Return reflections from Mexico mission trip
We didn’t know beforehand what the Holy Spirit had prepared
for us and us for. Relationship-building was the key. What we think we did included
the following:
Prince of Peace has been praying for a revival. The Spirit sent us to help with a:
-
new approach to their community through a children’s afternoon Bible school;
-
new playground equipment for the children;
-
new fans in the educational building for the children;
-
new bathroom for the children and their parents;
-
new church appearance from the community.
Care For Kids LaPaz serves 70 chilly kids in a poor mountain-top community hot breakfasts. We took some warm clothes with us, but chose to get a bunch more locally so everyone
could be warmer:
-
provide warm clothes;
-
help with breakfast two mornings;
-
provide sack lunches two days;
We have been providing a school supplies scholarship for Sharai,
a teen-age CareForKidsLaPaz volunteer, and the Spirit found a way for us to share at her home a chicken dinner which we brought. She is doing well with her studies, and her younger brother David is a cute smart
kid who speaks some English.
Pastor David needs heart surgery, and entrusted our hosting to
his protégé Reuben, a former church music minister presently on hiatus, who has been praying for renewal of his calling. The Spirit sent us to help with:
-
expand his repetorie for street ministry by sharing and singing with Leilani
-
improve his hardware by working through Alvaro with some of our funds
CrossRoads Fellowship is largely boating people. We chose to spend one day at our own expense going whale watching, which stimulated our being invited to
an evening with Sharon and Bill and their mainly boating friends, some of whom (Brian and Susan) are now considering visiting
Prince of Peace.
